Chromatic

Chromatic resonates with the color, form and spirit of Manhattan Beach. Cusped figures billow outwards from the atrium wall, abstractly evoking surfboards, sails, waves and palm leaves, while also echoing the geometric and architectural characteristics of the City Hall building. The project takes its name from the natural phenomena where light waves/particles are partially absorbed by the objects they encounter and reflect the remaining spectrum as visible color while also subtly tinting nearby surfaces.

Chromatic was the winning proposal for the interior renovation of Manhattan Beach’s City Hall, and was submitted in 2019.
